Amr Helal
Dr. Helal graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University (1983) where he worked and got his MSc and PhD degrees (1985-1997), Practical research at Toyama University, Japan. Dr. Helal founded two companies, of which he is the Managing Director (ITM, 1989 till now and Health Tech for Integrated Health Solutions). Dr. Helal was awarded the Green Apple Award in 2005 and Innova Award at 2011 from Heliopolis University and recently winner of Africa SME innovation prize, COMESA INNOVATION (2013), Unilever Award (2015). In addition to his private business, Dr. Helal is an active member at the Chamber of Industry being the current Chairman of Fairs and international relation committee. He was nominated as a committee member (Prime Minister decree) for solving some of the pending problems related to some of the wheat storage problems in Egypt for his projects and technology transfer of wheat storage in vertical and horizontal silo bags (first in Egypt). Dr. Helal is very much interested in investment in science and make business and or food out of waste / residue materials. During the last five years Dr. Helal was the principal investigator, project coordinator or beneficiary for a number of projects in these fields. These projects are partially supported by his company in cooperation with innovation and research funding bodies (Research Development and Innovation Program (EU- Program); Industry Modernization center; Science and Technology Development Fund).
