Professor Habib Ahmed is the Sharjah Chair in Islamic Law and Finance at Durham University. Prior to joining Durham University in 2008, he worked at the National Commercial Bank and Islamic Development Bank Group (IRTI) in Saudi Arabia and taught at the University of Connecticut, National University of Singapore, and University of Bahrain. Prof. Ahmed has worked as a consultant for several international organizations and has authored/edited more than 100 publications.

Prof. Mehmet Asutay is a Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic Political Economy & Finance at Durham University Business School, the Director of the Durham Centre in Islamic Economics and Finance, and Programme Director of Islamic finance master programs. Prof. Asutay’s teaching, research, and publications are all in Islamic moral economy/Islamic economics, Islamic political economy, Islamic finance and banking, Islamic governance and management and Middle Eastern political economies. Mehmet is the Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Islamic and Society and the Review of Islamic Economics.
