Serge Morand

Dr. Serge Morand is currently a research director at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and an associate researcher at the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD). He is one of the pioneers and foremost experts on One Health research and approaches. Currently based in Southeast Asia, he focuses his research on the evolutionary ecology of disease transmission with applications in health ecology, and carries out field research in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and the Philippines. There, he conducted several projects on the impacts of global changes, including climate and land use changes, on the links between biodiversity, health and societies in the region, using wildlife-borne diseases as a model. 

He has authored over 700+ scientific papers and has led several projects on the impact of land use and climate change on biodiversity and health in Asia. More recently, he has provided scientific advice for the movie The Pandemics Factory, directed by Marie Monique Robin and launched in 2022.
