Gabriele Riccardi is a doctor and nutritionist, and Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolic Disease at the Federico II University of Naples, where he is also Chairman of the Degree Program on Human Nutrition. He is Past President of the Italian Society of Diabetology SID and member of the Committee of the Council on Physical Activity and Metabolism of the American Heart Association. From 2002 to 2005, he was Director of the Body Weight Regulation, Insulin Sensitivity, and Diabetes Risk Group for the program of the European Community on the Process for the Assessment of Scientific Support for Claims on Foods. In addition, from 1997 to 2003, he has been a member of the Scientific Committee on Nutrition at the International Life Science Institute ILSI in Brussels, and until 2002, he was a member of the Education Committee of the Italian Society of Endocrinology. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with prestigious European and American research groups and was an editor for numerous scientific magazines. His research results were published in the main international scientific publications on nutrition and diabetology and metabolism.
