Renana Jhabvala serves as a member on the IIHS board. She is currently the Chairperson of SEWA Bharat, the federation of all India Self Employed Womens Associations (SEWA), as well as the national co-ordinator of SEWA. She started her work with SEWA as early as in 1978 and has been working with the organisation ever since. She is now responsible for the SEWA movement at the national as well as the international levels. She was the chair of SEWA Bank. Renana is committed to micro-finance and the financing of businesses owned and managed by poor women.
