Mercy is a Senior Program Specialist in the Climate Resilient Food Security Division at Canada’s International Development Research Centre. She holds a PhD in environmental science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, with additional training at University of Twente. She was nominated by UNESCO L’Oréal Foundation to conduct advanced research in remote sensing. Mercy holds an MPhil in environmental information systems and an honors degree in natural resources management. With over 15 years of experience, Mercy specializes in climate adaptation, resilience, and the food-water-energy-health nexus. Skilled in remote sensing, statistical analysis, and scenario development, she works internationally at the science-policy interface, fostering institutional partnerships and driving transformative change.
