Mary Boatemaa Setrana

Mary is Associate Professor of Migration and Social Change and Director of the Centre for Migration Studies at the University of Ghana. She holds the IDRC Research Chair on Forced Displacement in Anglophone West Africa and serves on advisory bodies including CODESRIA’s Scientific Committee and the ARUA Centre of Excellence on Migration and Mobility. Mary leads the revision of Ghana’s National Labour Migration Policy and has contributed to Botswana’s National Migration Policy, Ghana’s Diaspora Policy, and key African Union migration frameworks. She has led major international research initiatives supported by the EU, UKRI and UN agencies. Her work focuses on migration governance, forced displacement, gender, labour migration and climate-related mobilities. Mary is committed to mentorship and capacity strengthening for emerging African migration scholars.
