Marit Kitaw

Interim Director, African Minerals Development Center (AMDC)

Ms. Marit Kitaw, PhD  is  the Interim Director of the African Minerals Development Center (AMDC), a Specialized Agency of the African Union, dedicated to implementing the Africa Mining Vision (AMV). She has extensive experience in mineral resources governance as founding member of the AMDC, as Chief Technical Advisor on Extractives Industries for Sustainable Development at UNDP Mozambique, and as Economist leading the Minerals portfolio in UNECA. She also has previously worked at AfDB, COMESA, and US’ Institute of World Affairs.  As AMDC’s founding staff member, she contributed to major implementing tools pertaining to Africa’s minerals for inclusive growth and sustainable development. She received a Ph.D in Economics from University of Nice/ Sophia-Antipolis in France, and an MBA in Leadership and Sustainabillity from the University of Cumbria, UK.
