Overview

The SDG Academy is pleased to partner with the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) to promote their online course on Climate Change: Risk Management in the Banking Sector.

Since 2007, UNEP FI has been offering an online course on the climate change risks and opportunities for the finance sector. The course was updated in recent years to include the recommendations of the TCFD and in 2025, UNEP FI developed a new comprehensive programme designed for sustainability and risk professionals within banks who seek to deepen their understanding of climate change and integrate climate risk management into their practice.

This tutor-led course covers the science behind climate change, introduces transition and physical risks and opportunities, and provides an overview of climate risk reporting frameworks. It delves into the ISSB Standards, the evolution of climate risk reporting from the TCFD framework, and a comparison with other disclosure frameworks and regulatory standards, all supported by good practices and practical examples. Participants will also gain insights on scenario analysis, climate risk assessment methodologies, and the latest tools and resources offered by UNEP FI.
