Lennart Woltering is a scientist specializing in innovation, scaling, and systems change in smallholder agri-food systems. He leads Sustainable Innovation and Transformation at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, where he advances digital approaches such as the Artemis project to improve crop data and on-farm breeding. With over 20 years of experience across CGIAR, GIZ, and the private sector, he supports organizations and donors in designing and implementing scaling strategies that are sustainable and responsible. He developed the Scaling Scan tool and holds a PhD from Wageningen University, focusing on systems approaches to agricultural research for development.
