Shuchi Karim

Shuchi is a Bangladeshi Canadian academic and researcher. She completed her PhD at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands, specializing in women, gender, and development with a focus on sexualities. She is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carlton University. She is also the Coordinator of the IDRC Research Chairs Network on Forced Displacement. Shuchi’s career brings together more than 25 years of interdisciplinary experience in gender and development, feminism, women’s rights, education, and sexuality — combining development work, academia and activism. Her work includes evidence-based program design, training and advocacy in the field of gender and development, as well as publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, encyclopedias and research reports.
