Lydia brings decades of professional and lived experience to advancing education reforms and women’s leadership across Africa. She most recently served as Executive Director of Learning & Engagement at CAMFED International. Her journey in girls’ education began in 2005 when she co-founded the CAMFED Association in Tanzania — now a 60,000-member network of young women driving social change in their communities. Lydia played a pivotal role in scaling CAMFED’s award-winning Learner Guide program across six countries, embedding life skills and mentorship into national education systems. A 2024 Echidna Global Scholar and recipient of the Excellence in Education Leadership Award, she holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Muhimbili University and a master’s in public health from Johns Hopkins University.
