Amar Nijhawan

Amar is a Senior Program Officer at Canada’s International Development Research Centre working on the Scaling Care Innovations in Africa initiative. She previously worked at Oxfam Canada as a women’s rights policy and advocacy specialist. With over a decade of experience, Amar has championed social policy, gender justice, and economic equality through roles as a policy specialist, program manager, researcher, and advocate, driven by a passion for feminist economics. She holds an MSc in gender, policy and inequalities from the London School of Economics and Political Science and is currently based in Nairobi, where she advances care-focused innovations across the continent.
